What to bringGloucester harbor is the oldest seaport in the USA. Some of the best ground fishing is right here outside our harbor. Captain Frank will share his experience fishing on Jefferies Ledge, Tillies Bank, Stellwagen Bank and many other hotspots known to only a few top captains in the area. Cod, haddock, cusk, mackerel, and halibut are great eating cold water fish taken on these trips. Full day trips leave the dock at 7AM and return around 3PM. Up to 6 anglers can fish comfortably and not have to deal with the crowds on larger party boats. Bring your coolers if you'd like to stock your freezer with fillets!
Inshore bass fishing starts late May and peaks in early July. It's a short ride to fill up the live well and hit the local hot spots for stripers to 40" and bigger. Live baiting is one of our favorite and most exciting ways to hook these fish. Full day trips leave the dock at 7AM and return around 3PM. Regulations change frequently so check with us when you schedule your trip to find out what you can keep for the dinner table.
Bluefin tuna fishing is our specialty. Our season begins June 1st and continues until the quota is full or into December. We use several methods to hook tuna. Depending on time of year and conditions, we troll dead baits or artificial lures using a combination of our green stick, outriggers and flat lines. When live bait is working, we will anchor, drift, or slow troll multiple live baits from the outriggers or our kites. Once the fish settle in a particualer area, we'll anchor and chum to bring the fish into our spread. 130 lb class outfits are used to land fish up to and even larger than 1000 pounds.
One advantage Endurance has is the green stick and a captain who knows how to use it. Trolling with the Green stick is a unique experience, seeing giant bluefin crash a surface bait behind the boat is a once in a lifetime experience.
Endurance has a 40 foot high greenstick, a 600lb test mainline running over 1,000 feet aft to a large bird on the end to provide tension and create "noise"; then off the mainline there are multiple artificial squid, each with it's own hook. The squid dangle from the mainline and swim/dance across the water. Tuna can't resist the surface splashes of the squid. Multiple hook ups are common.
Endurance is run by a professional team of talented experienced fishermen. Capt Frank and crew along with partner boats work together to insure you a successful day on the water by staying on the bite. Together they have well over 100 years of combined experience fishing our local waters.
